British Wildlife Photography Awards 2019

The following image appeared as a finalist in the British Wildlife Photography Awards 2019 and featured in BWPA Awards Book 10.

Family Gathering

The red squirrel continues to establish an increasing footprint in the north of England where I encountered a family of six playing in woodland under a disused viaduct. Initially wary of my presence, they kept a safe distance, scurrying up and down the trees. Three of them climbed up onto the viaduct itself, out of sight, whilst the remaining group became increasingly relaxed and rested together in the crook of this large tree.

This image was also shortlisted for Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2019.
